Jack daWabbit is in the hospital. It was also Jack's birthday yesterday. Jack and Jayna, if you are reading this we all wish Jack a speedy recovery and also send along our birthday issues. You are both in our thoughts and prayers.
Last evening I watched the folk at NASA make contact with with the Spirit Rover. Who says engineers and scientists can't party? Here's the link: Mars Exploration Rover Mission Home.
I've also been hearing a lot about the Stardust mission. You can read all about it here: Welcome to Stardust!
The spam spews on. If you thought it was magically going to stop Jan 1, then I have a Viagra factory in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you. So why do I think the law is anything less than evil? I only think it is a first step. I think it makes some things very explicitly and clearly illegal that were murky before. It also makes opt-out legal and that is a bad thing.
I think that if we get a few high profile prosecutions under the law it may start to make a difference. Also note that we are getting the same spam so far -- mostly pills and scams. Although the law gives them one free chance the so called legitimate spammers which this law is meant to protect haven't started spewing forth in droves as far as I can tell.
The bottom line is that only in time will we see the impact, positive or negative that CAN-SPAM may have. I won't hesitate to let my Congress people know my views on it as the result of this law becomes evident. If you are in the US you might just let them know how you feel about it as this one way or another. Especially since we have a big election year coming up.
